Tooth Extraction FAQs
We use highly effective local anesthesia to thoroughly numb the area, so you will not feel pain during the extraction. You will likely feel some pressure or pushing, but our gentle technique is designed to keep any discomfort to an absolute minimum.
Initial healing typically takes a few days, and the extraction site should be pretty well filled in within a couple of weeks. However, it can take up to 8 weeks for the gum tissue to fully heal and reshape. Following our aftercare instructions closely will help speed up your recovery.
For the first few days, stick to a soft food diet. Excellent options include yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, and lukewarm soups. Avoid hot liquids, spicy foods, crunchy or hard foods, and do not use a straw, as the suction can dislodge the healing blood clot.
If you are in severe pain, please call us as early in the day as possible. We will make every effort to get you in the same day for an evaluation and, if possible, the extraction. Please note that calling late in the afternoon makes same-day treatment difficult, but we will always work to find a solution for you.
